Interwall:
Between the final supper and the last hick-up
On the 1st and 2nd of April, I organized an exhibition entitled InterWall in Affoltern (Zürich).
The works of four different artists and architects were exposed in an apartment and cellar in Wehntalerstrasse 496. Monday and Tuesday marked in fact the last living days of the hosting housing block, as demolition started on Wednesday April, 3rd. The dying house, however, experienced a temporary change of use: from accommodation/domestic space to an exhibition/public space; from an interior space to an almost exterior space. Indeed, the exhibition title underlines this “interval” of opportunity, when at the end of its cycle, the building – between its walls – managed to escape its use, to become a freiraum to play with: a spielraum. The whole process was documented through photographs and narrated through texts.
Containing my works:

View from the rear windows (2024)

We are all migrants native to the universe.
What it is to be private in a fully connected world? What it is to be a citizen in the 21st century?
AN ARCHITECTONIC STAGE PLAY:
This studio works on the idea that a substantial understanding of TODAYS TECHNOLOGY (INTERNET OF THINGS, BIG DATA, MACHINE INTELLIGENCE ...) changes the perspective to ARCHITECTURAL THEORY and will result in different ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS and building constructions.

Where do we study right now, and how does it look like in the Metaverse?

Studio Intro:
“In support of constructing fewer costly and resource-extensive buildings, we celebrate the potential of new technologies and propose a design studio that brings together virtual and physical space. Students are asked to speculate about a program, the corresponding typology and a specific space that shall be digitized in the future. In groups of two, they will imagine and design the virtual space in Metaverse, as well as reimagine and redesign the physical space in Zurich.”

Voluptas Intro:
“Pursuing our rambling exploration on the lookout for urban environments beyond reasonable and more than ever considering humankind as embedded in, acting upon and dependent on its geological era, we shall look upon history’s intertwined layers and sediments as raw potential to be appropriated and composed with – joyfully disrespecting scientific authenticity. The visionary Hístor seeks, finds novelty in the old, rather than an unfounded assertion of the present with the past. This semester aims at both finding and drafting fictional paths within erratic hyper-contexts (generated by hypothetical ruling incentives), and the obsessive recording of their past and present traces of erasures and becomings.”

“Our studio’s second semester is the conceptual counterpart of the first semester: research and examination of history is contrasted with a real project, in the here and now where the office of the past will become the workplace of the future.”

C&G Intro:
Until recently, the office was the most normal thing in the world. No other type of building has prevailed worldwide in the course of the 20th century with such power and in such almost frightening uniformity - even here in Switzerland. Desk work has long since become the dominant activity in our society. However, for some time, and especially since the Corona crisis hit us, everything has changed. The office is fundamentally questioned. Do we still need a workplace at all? Do we really still even need a desk?
